ROB FRYER

 |
Rob Fryer learned to swim in the River Cherwell
while at school in Oxford
in the 1940’s.
In 1965 he joined the
Farleigh & District Swimming Club (the only river swimming club still in existence), near Trowbridge, and then began
swimming in the River Frome. He brought up his five children to river swimming and ran a successful colour printers
in Warminster for 43 years.
Rob's knowledge of watering holes, especially in the UK and France, and of wild swimming safety, is extensive.
Together with Yacov Lev he co-founded RALSA in 2003.
Encouraged by Roger Deakin (the author of Waterlog who coined the phrase 'wild swimming'),
Rob commenced collecting data for “Rob’s Directory of Cool Places”(*) in 1999 and has been spending most of his free
time doing so ever since. To the best of our knowledge, Rob was the first person to ever undertake such a task in the
UK.
Rob is now pleased to make the result of his work available in order that the joys of wild swimming may be freely
available to all.
